If, in the early 2000s, you happened to bump into a young doctor, wandering the fashion houses and beauty salons of London with one set of lashes longer than the other, then you’ve met our founder, Dr. Tom Walker.

Tom was a medical student when the first wave of botox fever hit the UK. The surgeons he trained with were concerned about the rise in untrained practitioners offering powerful and dangerous treatments. Tom’s response was to found a company that matched reputable surgeons with patients seeking treatment, so that they could be administered in safety. 

But Tom took something else away from the experience; the knowledge that medical products, used safely, could impact the way people felt about themselves and their beauty. He also became familiar with a medical glaucoma treatment, bimatoprost, that had the ability to increase the length and thickness of the lashes and brows.

The problem was how to convince anyone else that it would work; cue the lopsided lashes. Tom started applying bimatoprost to one lash, to show the noticeable difference in growth, and spent the next few years getting to know leaders in the fashion and beauty industries and building a client list who would stay with him for decades. Mylash, now Opti Laboratories, was born. 

Since 2007, Tom and his team have helped tens of thousands of clients to grow their eyelashes and to thicken their eyebrows. Tom lives in Scotland with his wife, daughter, dogs and chickens. He has never given up on his dedication to patient safety, nor on his passion for helping others enhance their natural beauty.
