In the early 2000s, if you happened to bump into a young doctor wandering the fashion houses and beauty salons of London with one set of lashes visibly longer than the other — you’d have met our founder, Dr Tom Walker.

Tom was a medical student when the first wave of botox fever hit the UK. The surgeons he trained with were alarmed by the rise in untrained practitioners offering powerful and dangerous treatments. Tom’s response was to found a company that matched reputable surgeons with patients — so that treatments could be administered safely.
But he took something else away from those years: the knowledge that medical products, used responsibly, could genuinely change the way people felt about themselves. He also discovered bimatoprost — a glaucoma treatment that happened to grow lashes as a side effect. The question was how to convince anyone it worked. Hence: the lopsided lashes.
Tom discovers bimatoprost’s lash-growing potential during medical training. Begins building a client list in London’s fashion and beauty world.
Mylash founded. The UK’s first prescription-strength lash growth treatment, supervised by doctors and rooted in medical science.
Tom and his team help tens of thousands of clients grow their eyelashes and thicken their brows. Featured in Vogue, The Times, Elle and over 15 other publications.
Mylash becomes Opti Laboratories. The range expands to include the world’s first UV protection for lashes and brows, and the doctor-designed Mulberry Silk Sleep Mask.
Tom is one of the UK’s leading experts in eyelash and eyebrow growth and care. He holds an additional degree in anatomy — which directly informed the design of the Opti Sleep Mask. He continues to lead Opti’s team of UK-based doctors, offering the best quality advice and products to help clients achieve their lash and brow goals.
Tom lives in Scotland with his wife, daughter, dogs and chickens. He has never given up on his dedication to patient safety, nor on his passion for helping others enhance their natural beauty.
