Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analogue. It was originally developed to treat Glaucoma, or high pressure within the eye.
Patients using bimatoprost noticed that their lashes grew thicker and longer during treatment. The solution was soon repurposed as a prescription-strength cosmetic product.
Because the cosmetic treatment derives from a medical product, it has been clinically tested to the highest standards. It is both safe and effective to use. There have also been a number of studies on Bimatoprost; all have demonstrated minimal side effects.
Prostaglandins are a group of lipid compounds that occur naturally in your body. They serve as chemical messengers, regulating processes like the growth cycle of your hair.
