Opti Laboratories Growth Treatment can be used on both the lashes and brows.
It contains a 0.3 mg/ml (0.03%) solution of bimatoprost, a prostaglandin analogue, the exact same as Latisse. Bimatoprost mimics a naturally-occurring molecule, which regulates the growth of your hair.
When you apply bimatoprost to the base of a hair, it soaks into the hair follicle and causes the hair to enter its anagen, or growth phase. The individual hairs grow thicker and longer than normal. The increased thickness often results in a darker appearance to each hair.
When applied to vellus hairs the treatment thickens and darkens them enough to make them appear like “proper” hairs. Vellus hairs are the tiny hairs found all over the body except the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. This is sufficient to thicken an over-plucked or thinning brow.
The FDA trial in America for the approval of bimatoprost for cosmetic use found that the eyelashes on which it was tested were on average 106% thicker, 25% longer and 18% darker than before.
Research has shown that the treatment works just as effectively on eyebrows as it does on eyelashes. The specific % increases in length, thickness and colour saturation, however, have not been formally measured.
